Achieving Through Leadership
“Our chief want in life is somebody who will make us do what we can” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Have you ever heard Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt, or John Kennedy referred to as a manager? Certainly not. They were leaders.
Even our top universities have yet to offer a degree in leadership. I doubt they ever will. Leadership is, to a large extent, learned on the firing line. I have yet to meet a student fresh from campus who is a leader. Maybe a manager. Maybe a potential leader. But not a leader.
Reading this chapter won't create a leader, either. However, its 15 Leadership Habits will help you sort through the difference between managing and leading and offer road markers to guide you on your journey to ever-improving leadership techniques.
