Vince Lombardi Was Wrong. Winning Isn't the Only Thing.
Whether you win or lose may depend on the quality of the competition you select.
For years I have played in a regular golf foursome. My playing partners-Don, Keel, and Ray have each won at least one state golf championship, far surpassing my credentials. On a typical day, I take the most strokes getting around the course.
Am I a loser? My preference is to think I'm not. I believe I benefit from being able to play with better golfers. There are plenty of golf games I can put together to assure myself the lowest score in the group. Would that make me a winner?
Some determine who won and who lost by looking at the scorecard. Others look at the quality of the competition. Still others define winning internally—if you did your best, you're a winner. Losing isn't always bad. It depends on how you define it.
